About Ticketed Spaces

Ticketed Spaces is a way to support creators on Twitter for their time and effort in hosting, speaking, and moderating the public conversation. Creators can earn a share of revenue from tickets purchased from Twitter to attend the creators’ Ticketed Spaces.

Note: Currently only initial test group participants who satisfy minimum requirements can apply to host a Ticketed Space.

What are Ticketed Spaces?

Ticketed Spaces help creators generate revenue from the Spaces they host while allowing their audiences to show their support by purchasing tickets for the experience and conversation that creators provide in Twitter Spaces. Creators can use Ticketed Spaces to host workshops, conversations, or meet-and-greets with their most loyal fans. Twitter’s global platform is the perfect spot for hosting live, paid events. Now creators can earn money for hosting their Spaces.

What’s the eligibility criteria to host a Ticketed Space?

How do creators start a Ticketed Space?

To begin hosting Ticketed Spaces creators need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria to submit an application. There are a limited number of test group participants who will be accepted during the initial phase, but we will put applicants on the waitlist if we accept their application.

In the sidebar you will go to Monetization > Ticketed Spaces. That is where you can learn more about Ticketed Spaces, check to see if you meet the minimum eligibility criteria, and then submit an application.

Before being accepted, you will need to agree to the Ticketed Spaces Creator Terms and complete the onboarding process, including opening or linking your Stripe account.

 

How do creators reschedule or cancel a Ticketed Space?

Rescheduling of Ticketed Spaces is not yet available. The only option is to cancel the event. When an event is cancelled, a ticket holder may seek a refund from the platform where the ticket was purchased (App Store for iOS and Play Store for Android).

To cancel an event, simply open the scheduled Space card and tap on Cancel this Space. A confirmation will appear, and when confirmed, the Space will be cancelled. All ticket holders will receive a cancellation notification.

 

How do refunds work?

Refunds can’t be issued by the Host of the event. Refunds can only be issued by the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android when a ticket holder submits a refund request.

 

How do creator payouts work?

  • Will creators be charged for chargebacks? 
    Chargebacks will be deducted from creators’ total payouts. Twitter reserves the right to charge creators for fees associated with chargebacks, but may choose not to do so. Twitter may also recoup from you any fees associated with any chargebacks.
  • How much of the payout do creators receive?
    The amount that creators see in their Twitter balance approximates their earned revenue. Creators can earn up to 97%* of revenue earned for tickets purchased to their Ticketed Spaces after platform fees on in-app purchases. The payment processor may charge currency conversion or transfer fees to receive the money when applicable. Additionally, if you choose to use a supported e-wallet to receive the money, the e-wallet company may charge a fee for accessing the money. Twitter does not have control over currency exchange rates or other fees imposed by the payment processor or e-wallet company. 

    *Note: Once a creator has made a total of $50,000 in lifetime earnings from Twitter creator monetization products (including Ticketed Spaces and Super Follows), the creator will be eligible to earn up to 80% of revenue on future earnings from Twitter creator monetization products after platform fees on in-app purchases. Your ability to earn revenue is subject to Twitter's Ticketed Spaces Creator Terms.
  • What are the creator payout options?
    The available payout methods are determined by the creator’s location. Payouts are made through the creator’s Stripe creator account.

    Note: If a customer seeks or causes a refund or a chargeback and is successful, the creator will see an adjustment that notes the ticket was refunded.
  • My payout was processed. Where is it?
    Typically, it takes 3-5 business days for funds to appear in your bank account. In some cases, it can take up to 10 business days. 

    If it has been more than 10 days since your payout has been listed as processed, please contact Stripe. If you continue to have issues, navigate to Get support from Monetization > Ticketed Spaces in the sidebar. Please include your Twitter username (or “handle”) and we will investigate the payout further.
  • What is the minimum withdrawal amount?
    The minimum withdrawal amount is $50 for US creators. You must hit that threshold for each withdrawal.
  • I have met the minimum withdrawal amount, but I can’t request a withdrawal.
    Your payout request may not be processed if there is an information mismatch in your account. You may need to re-add your bank account details (or debit card) to your account in Stripe.
  • For US tax filing, will I receive a Form 1099?
    Creators who are US persons will receive an IRS Form 1099 if they have earned more than $600 USD in the previous tax year. A copy of your 1099 form will be sent to you.

How do I purchase a Ticketed Space?

Once you tap or click on a Space card in a Tweet, if the Space is a Ticketed Space, you will see an option to purchase a ticket for the amount that the Host has set. Click or tap on Purchase and it will take you to the payment page to complete the purchase. 

You may also receive an invite to purchase a ticket from a participant in the Ticketed Space (either a Listener or a Speaker) via a DM with a link or shared link elsewhere.

Note: You can only purchase one ticket per Twitter account for each Ticketed Space. Purchasing a ticket is subject to the Purchaser Terms of Service.

 

How do I know that my ticket has been purchased?

On the Space card, after submitting payment, you will see it update to Ticket purchased. A confirmation toast will also be shown once payment is complete. The purchased ticket(s) will also show up under your Notifications.

 

Will I automatically receive a reminder for the Ticketed Space?

Yes, Twitter will send you a reminder once it gets closer to the scheduled time.

 

Can I get a refund on a ticket?

On Twitter, tickets are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law and also as explained below regarding cancelled events and being blocked by the Host or Co-host. 

 

If the Host cancels the event, will I get a refund?

All refund requests must go through the platforms where the ticket was purchased (App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android).

 

What happens if the Host or Co-host blocks me before the event takes place?

A Host or Co-host may choose to block people who have purchased tickets to the Host’s event for any reason. If you are blocked before the event occurs, you will not be able to access the event and may seek a refund as described below. 

 

If either of the two scenarios described above occur, how do I request a refund?

For iOS in-app purchases, you may request a refund in the following ways:

  • Contact Apple Customer Support and ask for a refund.
  • Log in and use Apple's self-service tool, reportaproblem.apple.com, to request a refund.
  • Ask your payment method issuer for a refund.

If you purchased your ticket on Google Play, you can find more information on Google refunds here. If you find a Google Play purchase on your card or other payment method that you didn't make and that wasn't made by anyone you know, report unauthorized charges within 120 days of the transaction.

Google does not give refunds for most Google Play purchases. However there are exceptions (see below.) You can also contact the developer directly. The developer can help with purchase issues, and can process refunds pursuant to its policies and applicable laws​.

  1. Within 48 hours: You may be able to get a refund depending on the details of the purchase. Follow these instructions
  2. After 48 hours: Contact the developer to troubleshoot and find if you can get a refund. Developers have their own policies and legal requirements and may be able to give you a refund.
