Media Studio Monetization

X offers two video monetization programs, Amplify Pre-roll, and Amplify Sponsorships.

Amplify Pre-roll

The Amplify Pre-roll program is an opt-in advertising program to serve pre-roll against your premium video content shared on X. The program was created to make it easy for publishers to monetize video content on X, and also turnkey for advertisers to align with brand-safe content.

Those partners that are accepted into the program and develop a sponsorship package will have access to monetization functionality in Media Studio.

Find more information about this program here.

Amplify Sponsorships

The Amplify Sponsorships program allows you to align your premium video content via a one-to-one sponsorship with an advertiser (or many). Sponsorships are the best way to drive meaningful reach and revenue for your brand and deliver premium alignment for advertisers who want to reach your audience.

Those partners that are accepted into the program and develop a sponsorship package will have additional monetization functionality in Media Studio.

Monetizing with Amplify Pre-roll - FAQs

How will I know if I’ve been accepted into the program?
Publishers will be notified by their account manager of their acceptance and will see a new “Monetization” tab in Media Studio. The program's Terms of Use will be displayed the next time the publisher logs into studio.X.com. These terms are non-negotiable.

How and when do I get paid?
X will pay publishers sixty (60) days after the last day of the calendar month in which earnings occur. For example, June earnings will be paid at the end of August. Payments are sent automatically and an email notification is sent to the contact name in the payment details.

Will you send me an invoice?
Invoices are not sent, but publishers receive an email when payments are issued. These emails include the publisher account ID, the earnings amount, and the invoice date. The earnings can also be found under the ‘Monetization’ tab in Media Studio once they are processed.

How will I know my earnings information ahead of the payment window?
You may see ‘estimated earnings’ by clicking into each individual video in Media Studio. All estimated earnings displayed on a two-day delay. All figures are estimates, and there can be differences between the estimates and the final payment amounts. Please see the partner terms for additional details.

Why do I have to enter in payment information for each handle? What if I want to get paid as an organization?
Each handle needs to be set up as its own payee. In Media Studio, you can assign an admin to the account, who can then use their own credentials to access that handle.

Why haven't I been paid yet?
There is a $100 USD (or your market’s equivalent) earnings threshold for processing payments. Once a publisher hits this threshold, the payments will be sent.

Who do I contact for payment questions?
If you have any questions regarding the status of any of your open payments, please contact us at the email address found here.

Do I have to opt-in every video?
No, it is your choice as to what videos are opted into the program. This selection can be made on a video-by-video basis, or set as defaults in the account “Settings” area under “Monetization.”

Can I upload and monetize videos from my phone?
Yes, mobile videos can be uploaded and opted into the Amplify Pre-roll program via the X app on iOS and Android.

Can I exclude or block specific brands and categories from being paired with my videos?
Yes, you have the ability to block at both the individual handle level and the advertiser category level. Advertisers have the same ability to block publishers by handle or category.

Do I have to use Media Studio or the X apps to opt-in video into the program? Can I use a third party?
Yes, but it does depend on the service. Please reach out to your account representative to confirm that they have integrated with our API.

Monetizing with Amplify Sponsorships - FAQs

Why can’t I see ‘Monetize this video’ checkbox or dropdown to select a sponsorship package?
You must click the blue post button to see the ‘Monetize this video’ checkbox -- the checkbox will not appear for Sponsorships when clicking into the media directly.

If you’re still unable to see the checkbox or the package, reach out to your account manager for assistance.

Why don’t I see the Monetization tab within the Studio navigation bar?
The Monetization tab in the Studio navigation bar only appears when a user is allowlisted for the Amplify Pre-roll program.

What does the “Exclude advertiser @handles” field do?
This field allows you to specify an advertiser handle within the package that will be unable to promote your post.

If you have not been informed by your account manager to use this field, this should be ignored and using it could cause issues for your Sponsorship.

Where can I find analytics for my Sponsorship?
The only analytics viewable are the promoted views on each video that was posted into a Sponsorship. These promoted views can be seen via Media Studio or the Video Analytics Dashboard

Can I manage all of the posts inside of my Sponsorship?
No, you only have control over what new posts you add to a Sponsorship. There is no way to remove a post from a Sponsorship other than deleting the post

Can I see earnings for my Sponsorship?
No, there is no way to look at earnings per video for Sponsorships. Reach out to your account manager for assistance.

Can I monetize the same media via both Amplify Pre-roll and Amplify Sponsorship programs?
No, doing so will cause issues and may result in your video not being properly monetized.

Can I share a video for Amplify Sponsorships without posting?

No, currently a new post needs to get created each time you want to place a video into a package.

I forgot to select the package when posting. Can I associate a post to a package manually?

No, you must select the program upon posting. If this is not done, it is recommended that you delete the post and then create a new one associated to the correct package.

I accidentally posted into the wrong package. Can I manually remove that post from the package?
No, you must delete a post if it was incorrectly created.

Can one video be used across multiple Sponsorship packages?
Yes, it is possible to use one video across multiple packages, but it requires creating multiple posts — each one linked to a different package.
