Twitter Blue how to
Twitter Blue is a monthly subscription that offers exclusive access to premium features so you can customize your Twitter experience. You’ll need to be logged in to the Twitter account you purchased your subscription from with an active Twitter Blue subscription to access the features and settings listed below.
Note: Twitter Blue is available for in-app purchase on Twitter for iOS and Android, or on twitter.com through our payment partner Stripe in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Learn more about Twitter Blue.
Managing your Twitter Blue subscription
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com
- Select Twitter Blue.
- Select the blue Subscribe for $/mo button.
- Follow the in-app purchase instructions for iOS and Android, or Stripe purchase prompts for transactions completed on twitter.com.
Congrats! You’re now a Twitter Blue Member!
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com
- Select Twitter Blue.
- You will see an Active status badge with a green check to indicate you’re enrolled in Twitter Blue.
When you purchase Twitter Blue from Twitter.com, you’ll manage your billing and payment information from the Billing Summary.
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com.
- Select Twitter Blue to see your Twitter Blue home page.
- Select Manage subscription.
- Select Manage payment and subscription info to see your Billing Summary.
- Update your payment method or cancel your plan.
Find and customize your subscription features
After you sign up for Twitter Blue, you’ll manage your subscription, access Labs, and customize your Twitter Blue features from the Twitter Blue membership page found under the profile menu, when you select Twitter Blue to get started.
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com.
- Select Twitter Blue.
- Your Twitter Blue membership page displays with the Active badge in the top right.
- Under Feature settings, select the feature you’d like to customize:
- Undo Tweet
- Theme
- App icon
- Custom navigation
- Reader
Ad-free Articles
- Labs
- Ad-free sites
- See your impact
Custom navigation set up
This iOS-only feature lets you choose and save at least 2 and up to 6 items for the bottom navigation bar in the Twitter for iOS app. When you remove default items from the navigation bar, you’ll find them listed in the Profile menu.
Note: If you remove notifications and direct messages from the navigation bar, you’ll find those alerts next to where they’re listed in the Profile menu.
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app.
- Under Feature Settings, tap Custom navigation.
- Tap and hold the items to drag them into your preferred order.
- Tap save.
Your selected items now appear at the bottom of your app in the navigation bar for easy access to your favorite Twitter destinations.
You can reset your navigation bar to the Twitter default by tapping on the reset button.
Using Undo Tweet
Undo Tweet is turned on by default when you subscribe to Twitter Blue. You can turn the feature on or off from your Twitter Blue settings. When turned off, you won’t see the Undo Tweet prompt, and your Tweet sends right away. When turned on, your Tweet is completely private during the Tweet Undo period. Your followers won’t see the Tweet until the Undo Tweet timer expires or you select Send now.
Note: Undo Tweet is not available in other Twitter products or through third parties.
- Before you Tweet, check your Undo Tweet setting (it’s on by default if you haven’t turned it off).
- Compose and Send your Tweet.
- Select View Tweet in the Sending Tweet notification that appears immediately after you send your Tweet.
- You’ll see your Tweet displayed with a timer in the bottom left counting down your Tweet Undo period.
- Select Undo.
- You’ll go to Composer where you can revise your Tweet.
- If you selected Undo, revise your Tweet in the Tweet Composer and select Tweet.
- Once the Undo Tweet timer expires, your Tweet posts to your timeline, and is visible to your followers.
Note: If you’d like to undo your Tweet after the notification disappears, but before your Undo Tweet period expires, you can also access the Undo Tweet option from your Home timeline (scroll to the top) or select the home button.
Customize the settings of your Undo Tweet Feature
Undo Tweet is intended to give you more control over your Tweet content, so we designed it with options that allow you to customize how it works best for you. Give yourself more or less time to decide if you want to undo a Tweet when you set the Undo Tweet expiration period to 60 second or less. If you prefer to turn Undo Tweet off, no problem! Choose to activate this feature for all or some types of Tweets. Just remember, that you won’t see the undo prompt when this feature is turned off.
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com.
- Select Twitter Blue.
- Under Feature Settings, select Undo Tweet.
- Select Tweet Undo period.
- Choose between 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds or 60 seconds.
- Navigate to the Profile menu on your app or twitter.com.
- Select Twitter Blue.
- Under Feature Settings, select Undo Tweet.
- Use the toggle to turn on/off the type of Tweets you want to undo.

Customize your Twitter App icon
This feature lets you pick how your Twitter App icon displays on your phone. Choose from several colors as well as seasonal options that are only available for a limited time.
- From the Profile menu tap Twitter Blue.
- Under Feature Settings, tap App Icon.
- Tap an icon that you want to select as your Twitter app icon.
- A green check will appear below the color you have chosen.
- Tap the back arrow to return to your Twitter Blue settings page.
Customizing your Twitter App theme
This feature lets you choose the theme colors for your Twitter App.
- From the Profile menu tap Twitter Blue.
- Under Feature Settings, tap Theme.
- Tap a color for your Twitter app Home page.
- A green check will appear below the color you have chosen.
- Tap the back arrow to return to your Twitter Blue settings page.

Features in Labs will change over time. Some features may be removed or become available to all Twitter accounts while others will be subscriber only. Check your settings often to see what's new.
- From the Profile menu select Twitter Blue.
- Under Feature Settings select Labs.
Labs: 10-min videos
Twitter Blue subscribers can now upload and Tweet videos up to 10 minutes long. Right now, longer video uploads are only available to subscribers, but they’re shared the same way non-subscribers share a video in a Tweet.
Customizing your Reader feature
Reader turns long threads into a more beautiful reading experience. We’ve designed this longform experience so you can read all the latest content seamlessly.
From a Tweet that has threaded replies, a Reader icon appears in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select the Reader icon to turn this feature on.
- Select the Reader icon to turn this feature off.
You can also select the View thread in Reader button at the bottom of an individual Tweet in a thread. To see the Tweet thread in standard view, select the X to turn Reader off.
Note: You can also bookmark the thread using the bookmark icon at the bottom of Reader.
Control text size from your Twitter Blue settings or from a thread.
From your Twitter Blue settings:
- Select Reader.
- Select text size and choose Small, Medium, or Large.
- Reader should now default to the text size you’ve chosen.
From a Thread:
- Select the Aa at the bottom of the Reader view..
- Select Small, Medium, or Large.
Creating and managing Bookmark Folders
Bookmark Folders help you organize your saved Tweets. There are several ways to create a Bookmark Folder, but they all require you to Bookmark a Tweet first. As a Twitter Blue member, when you create a new Bookmarks you’ll see a notification with the option to Add to Folder right away. Twitter Blue allows you an unlimited number of bookmarks and Bookmark Folders which are always private.
- From a Tweet, tap the share icon and select Add Tweet to Bookmarks
- Tap the blue Add to Folder button
- Tap Bookmarks.
- Tap the New Folder icon on the bottom of the Bookmarks page.
- Enter a name for your Folder.
- Tap Create.
- From the Profile menu Tap Bookmarks.
- Tap All Bookmarks.
- Tap the Share Tweet icon at the bottom of the Tweet you want to add to your Folders.
- Choose Add to Folder from the row of options for sharing a Tweet. You may need to swipe to see the full list of Share Tweet options.
- Tap the name of the Folders where you’d like to see your Bookmark.
- A notification will appear to let you know your Bookmark was saved to the Folders.
- To remove a saved Bookmark from a Bookmark Folder follow the steps 1-4. Tapping the Add to Folders icon again removes it from the folder.
Note: Removing a Bookmark from a folder doesn’t delete it from your account. If you’d like to permanently delete a Bookmark, tap the share icon from the Tweet within your Bookmarks timeline and select Delete Bookmark. You can also tap the more icon at the top of your Bookmarks timeline to remove all of your bookmarks at once.
- From the Profile menu Tap Bookmarks.
- Tap All Bookmarks.
- Tap the Share Tweet icon at the bottom of the Tweet you want to add to your Folders.
- Choose Add to Folder from the row of options for sharing a Tweet. You may need to swipe to see the full list of Share Tweet options.
- Tap the name of the Folders where you’d like to see your Bookmark.
- A notification will appear to let you know your Bookmark was saved to the Folders.
- To remove a saved Bookmark from a Bookmark Folder follow the steps 1-4. Tapping the Add to Folders button again removes it from the folder.
