How to add the post button to your website

The post button allows you to quickly share the webpage you’re viewing with all of your followers. Clicking the post button provides you with a pre-populated post containing a link to that webpage, which you can customize before sending.

How to put the Post button on your site
  1. Go to https://publish.x.com/
  2. Customize the post button – choose pre-populated text for the message, and confirm which X accounts you'd like to suggest to users. The main account you specify will become an @mention in the post. (By default, we'll use the username of whichever account you're currently logged into in the button.)
  3. Copy and paste the code into the HTML of your website wherever you would like the button to appear.
  4. You're done!
Notes:

The optional post counter for your button captures a sum of all posts and reposts of your content, so you can watch the message spread as people share it.

How to use the post button

  1. When you see the post button on a webpage that you feel like sharing, click it.
  2. If you're not already logged in to X, you will be prompted by a pop-up box to log in.
  3. A post box will appear for you to post a post linking to the webpage you visited. Your remaining characters are counted in the bottom right. Edit the post if you would like to.
  4. When your post is ready, click “post.”
  5. The box will then show you information about related X accounts – you may follow these users, or simply close the box.
  6. Continue browsing the web. If you’d like to confirm that your post posted correctly, visit your x.com profile.
